Turkish Economy Recorded 7.6% Growth
in the 2nd Quarter of 2022

According to TUIK (Turkish Statistical Institute) data, the Turkish economy grew by 7.6% in the 2nd quarter of 2022. According to the data, while finance and insurance activities increased by 26.6%, service activities increased by 18.1%, there was a decrease in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries and construction sectors.

 

The growth in the 1st quarter of 2022, which was announced as 7.3%, was revised to 7.5%. Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the gross domestic product data for the 2nd quarter of 2022.

 

 

According to TUIK data; When the activities that make up the gross domestic product are examined; In the 2nd quarter of 2022, as a chained volume index compared to 2021; there was a 26.6% increase in finance and insurance activities, 18.1% in service activities, 11.0% increase in professional, and administrative and support service activities, 7.8% in industry, 5.3% increase in information and communication activities, 4.1 % real estate activities, 1.9% in other service activities and 1.7% increase in public administration, education, human health and social work activities.

 

Agriculture, forestry and fisheries decreased by 2.9% and the construction sector decreased by 10.9%. Seasonally and calendar-adjusted Gross domestic product chained volume index increased by 2.1% compared to the previous quarter.

The calendar-adjusted GDP chained volume index increased by 7.3% in the 2nd quarter of 2022 compared to the same quarter of 2021.

 

The estimation of Gross Domestic Product by production method increased by 114.6% in the 2nd quarter of 2022 at current prices compared to the same quarter of 2021 and became 3 trillion 418 billion 967 million Turkish Liras. The 2nd quarter value of GDP was 219 billion 335 million dollars at current prices.
