Turkey Imposed Full Closure
between April 29 and May 17

Turkey is going to impose full closure between 19.00 on April 29 and 05.00 on May 17.

 

President Tayyip Erdogan made an announcement regarding the decisions taken within the scope of covid-19 measures after the Presidential Cabinet held in Bestepe yesterday in his speech to the Nation as follows:

 

"The numbers covid-19 cases must decrease much more than today so that we can take steps that will make our lives easier after the Ramadan Feast. In a period when Europe is in the process of opening up, we are supposed to rapidly decrease our number of cases to less than 5 thousand not to be left behind. Otherwise, a heavy bill is inevitable in every field from tourism to business and education.

Uninterrupted curfews or a full closure is going starting from 19:00 on Thursday, April 29, 2021, and proceeding to complete closure until May 17, 2021, Monday, 05:00 in the morning until the end of the Ramadan Feast. Uninterrupted curfews will be applied between these dates.

 

  • All Workplaces will Suspend their Activities, Except for Organizations that are Exempted

All workplaces will suspend their activities, except for the organizations that are exempted specified in the circular of the Ministry of Interior. Organizations that are exempted are those who are in areas such as production, manufacturing, food, cleaning and health.

 

  • Package Services will Continue

In the food and beverage sector, only package services can be provided, and businesses with appropriate conditions will be able to continue this service uninterruptedly when necessary.

 

  • Markets

Chain markets will be closed on Sundays and will continue to serve at specified times on other days. Grocery stores, greengrocers, butchers, dried fruits and dessert shops will be open between 10.00-17.00.

 

  • Intercity Travels

All intercity travels will be subject to permission and intercity public transport (except plane) will be able to accept passengers at 50 percent capacity.

 

  • Hotel Reservations will not be an Exception to Curfews

In this lockdown period, reservations at accommodation facilities will not be an exception to curfews and intercity travel restrictions.

 

  • Face-to-face Education will be Suspended

Face-to-face education will be suspended in all educational institutions, including kindergarten, nursery, 8th and 12th grades, and all exams will be postponed.
