In the 3rd quarter of July, August and September, tourism income in Turkey increased by 181.8% compared to the same quarter of 2020 and became 11 billion 395 million 117 thousand dollars.
Thus, the highest quarterly tourism income of the epidemic process was gained this year.
In the tourism season of 2021, tourism income in Turkey increased to double-digit levels again.
According to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), tourism incomes increased by 181.8% compared to the same quarter of 2020 and reached 11 billion 395 million 117 thousand dollars in the 3rd quarter consisting of July, August and September in 2021.
78% of tourism income was gained from foreign visitors and 22% from local visitors residing abroad.
Visitors mostly manage their travels personally or by package tours. 9 billion 63 million 42 thousand dollars of the expenditures made in this quarter was personal expenses and 2 billion 332 million 75 thousand dollars was package tour expenses.
In this quarter, the average nightly spending of foreigners was 78 dollars, while the average nightly spending of Turkish citizens residing abroad was 61 dollars.
The average expenditure per person was recorded as 835 dollars.
Tourism expenditure, which consists of the expenditures of our Turkish citizens visiting other countries, increased by 363.5% compared to the same quarter of 2020 and became 584 million 379 thousand dollars.
Of this, 572 million 877 thousand dollars were personal and 11 million 502 thousand dollars were package tour expenses.
