Istanbul Transportation: 3 New Metro Lines
will be Put into Service in 2022!

Istanbul transportation in 2022 will be more active. Sabiha Gokcen Airport, Gayrettepe-Kagithane-New Airport and Istanbul Basaksehir - Kayasehir metro lines are planned to be put into service this year.

 

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is working on 7 metro lines with a total length of 103 km within the current period, 3 of the mentioned lines will be put into service at the end of 2022, and the rest will be put into service within the next year.

 

 

 

The Kadikoy - Kartal - Kaynarca metro line is 7.4 km long with Sabiha Gokcen Airport on the Anatolian Side of Istanbul, which is one of the intercity and international air transportation terminals of Istanbul. It can receive 1 million 200 thousand passengers daily.

 

With the planned lines, it will connect Ankara - Istanbul YHT Station, Sabiha Gokcen Airport, Marmaray, Kadikoy - Kartal - Kaynarca Metro line, as well as Uskudar - Umraniye - Cekmekoy - Sultanbeyli Metro lines.

 

Sabiha Gokcen Airport tail tunnel, connection branch, Tail Tunnel Area under Viaduct Crossing, Old Terminal Front Entrance and Exit Structure, Fevzi Cakmak Pedestrian Connection Tunnel, Fevzi Cakmak Pedestrian Connection Tunnel Entrance and Exit Structure in addition to Fevzi Cakmak Station.

 

While the overall progress rate increased to 92% with the Sabiha Gokcen - Kaynarca Metro Line Project, the overall progress was recorded as 96.91% with the construction of the hospital and pedestrian connection tunnels along with the tail tunnel.

 

While 99% of the tunnel constructions have been completed, it is thought that the project will be completed in the second half of this year.

 

Gayrettepe - Kagithane - Istanbul Airport Metro Line

 

The tender for the metro construction, which connects Gayrettepe, is 37.5 km in length and consists of 9 stations, and Istanbul New Airport, was made at the end of 2016.

 

Excavation, shoring and rough construction works have been completed at Kagithane, Hasdal, Kemerburgaz, Gokturk and İhsaniye stations, which can carry 600 thousand passengers per day.

 

With the TBM Tunnel production completed, the reinforced concrete status of the stations was 99.84% and the progress of the NATM tunnels was 99.63%.

 

Basaksehir - Kayasehir Metro Line

 

Basaksehir - Kayasehir metro line, which is planned to serve the City Hospital in Istanbul - Basaksehir, will ensure the completion of the public transportation infrastructure in that region.

 

It is approximately 5.95 km long with Basaksehir - Kayasehir Metro, Bagcilar - Mahmutbey - İkitelli Olympickoy, Onurkent, City Hospital, Kayasehir 15th Region and Kayasehir Center with four stations. The metro line will be able to carry 70 thousand passengers daily.

 

The stations on the line are as follows: Onurkent Station, City Hospital Station, Kayasehir 15th Region (Mass Housing) Station, and Kayasehir Central Station.
