Istanbul Airport Became the First in Europe
with 1,351 Daily Flights

Istanbul Airport became the 1^st among the airports in Europe with an average of 1,351 daily flights from 5 to 11 September 2022.

According to the flight report of the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL), Istanbul Airport retained its top spot among the busiest airports in Europe.

The General Directorate of Civil Aviation made a statement regarding this issue on its social media account, "In the period of 05-11 September 2022, Istanbul Airport was the busiest airport in Europe with an average of 1,351 flights per day. The IGA Istanbul Airport is among the top 5 busiest airports in 2019. It continues to be the only airport with a performance above 7% year-on-year.

After Istanbul Airport, Amsterdam Schiphol Airport ranked 2^nd with an average of 1,320 flights per day, while Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport was ranked 3^rd with 1,260 daily flights. Frankfurt Airport ranked 4^th with 1,159 flights per day and London Heathrow Airport ranked 5^th with 1,115 daily flights.
