Free internet service has started on the M2 (Yenikapi-Haciosman) metro line in Istanbul.
The works for free internet services are also underway for other lines.
After serving, Akram Imamoglu, Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), announced the start of providing internet services on the M2 metro line from his social media page.
The 'Internet connection in the subway' project, which Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has been working on for a while, has started to be implemented on the M2 line as of today.
The work started by establishing access points in 31 of the 48 trains on the M2 line will be added to 17 more trains next week.
The use of the internet on the M2 metro line (Yenikapı-Hacıosman) is currently free. All passengers will be able to receive mobile internet service with their smartphones, as well as make voice calls.
Passengers who wish will also benefit from the free Wi-Fi service of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM).
The free internet services on the other lines will be opened in the near future within the framework of investment plans.
On the other hand, Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya sent a letter to the 1st Regional Directorate of TCDD, stating that internet service was allowed by the General Directorate of Security in Marmaray, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Transport.
