Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), announced the Turkey real estate sales statistics for the month of May.
In Turkey, 59 thousand 166 houses were sold in May 2021. While the number of houses sold in May decreased by 38.28% compared to April, it increased by 16.2%t compared to the same month of the last year.
Istanbul real estate had the highest share in Turkey property sales with 11 thousand 356 houses and 19.2%. In Turkey, mortgaged house sales in May declined by 42.9% compared to the same month of the last year and became 10 thousand 560.
Real estate sales across Turkey raised by 16.2% in May compared to the same month of 2020 and became 59 thousand 166 units. Istanbul had the highest share in Turkey property sales with 11 thousand 356 houses and 19.2%.
According to the number of sales announced by TUIK, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 5 thousand 653 house sales and 9.6% share, and İzmir with 3 thousand 298 house sales and 5.6% share.
The provinces with the lowest number of property sales were respectively Ardahan with 7 house sales, Hakkari with 11 houses and Bayburt with 26 house sales.
The number of real estate sold for the first time in Turkey raised by 8.0% in May compared to the same month of last year and became 18 thousand 204.
The share of the first sale in total property sales was 30.8%. While Istanbul had the 17.3% highest share with 3 thousand 153 house sales, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 1156 house sales and İzmir with 858 house sales.
Mortgaged immovable property sales in Turkey in May declined by 42.9% compared to the same month of last year and became 10 thousand 560.
The share of mortgage sales in total real estate sales was 17.8%. Istanbul ranked first in mortgage sales with 2,210 house sales and a 20.9% share.
While there were no mortgaged house sales in Hakkari and Sirnak provinces, 1 mortgaged house was sold in Ardahan.
Resale house sales across Turkey raised by 20.2% in May compared to the same month of last year and became 40,962 housing units. In resale property sales, Istanbul ranked first with 8 thousand 203 houses and a share of 20.0%.
The share of resale properties in total house sales in Istanbul was 72.2%. Ankara ranked second in the resale house sales with 4,497 real estate sales, followed by Izmir with 2,440 house sales.
Real estate sales to foreigners raised by 106.5% compared to the same month of last year and became 1,776 houses. In the housing sales to foreigners, Istanbul took first place with 818 sales in May.
Istanbul was followed by Antalya with 341 house sales, Ankara with 106 house sales, Mersin with 80 house sales and Sakarya with 75 house sales, respectively.
In May, Iraqi citizens bought 239 houses from Turkey. Iraqi citizens were, respectively, followed by Iran with 231 residences, Russian Federation with 119 residences, Afghanistan with 98 houses sales and Germany with 87 houses sales.
