Housing Sales to Foreigners in Turkey Raised by 50%: Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan are at the Top

 

 

Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the housing sales data for August 2021. According to the statement made by the institution, house sales declined by 17% compared to the same month 2020, while Turkey real estate to foreigners increased by 50.7%.

 

Housing sales data in Turkey were announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). According to the data announced by (TUIK), house sales all around Turkey decreased by 17% in August 2021 compared to the same month of 2020.

 

It became 141 thousand 400 houses, while house sales to foreigners increased by 50.7% to 5 thousand 866 houses. Iranian and Iraqi citizens are at the top of the list of foreign real estate buyers.

 

In the January-August period, real estate sales in Turkey decreased by 21.7% compared to the same period of 2020 and amounted to 801 thousand 995 houses. The mortgaged house sales decreased by 67.9% and become 152 thousand 96 houses, and other sales types increased by 17.9% and become 649 thousand 899 houses.

 

During this period, newly built houses sales decreased by 23.5% and become 243 thousand 189 houses, resale house sales decreased by 20.9% and become 558 thousand 806 houses.

 

Istanbul is at the Top in Turkey Real Estate Sales

 

Istanbul had the highest share in house sales with 24,286 house sales and 17.2% share. According to the number of sales, Istanbul was, respectively, followed by Ankara with 13 thousand 642 house sales and 9.6% share, and Izmir with 7 thousand 731 house sales and 5.5% share.

The provinces with the lowest number of house sales were Ardahan with 28 houses and Hakkari with 16 houses.

Mortgaged house sales in Turkey declined by 64.0% in August compared to the same month in 2020 and became 27 thousand 375 houses. The share of mortgaged sales in total real estate sales was 19.4%.

Istanbul was at the top place in mortgage sales with 5 thousand 636 houses and a share of 20.6%. The province with the lowest mortgaged house sales was Hakkari with 1 property sale.

 

Property Sales to Foreigners in Turkey Increased by 50% in August!

 

Property sales to foreigners increased by 50.7% in August compared to the same 2020 and became 5 thousand 866 houses.

 

In the property sales to foreigners, Istanbul was at the top of the list with the sales of 2 thousand 729 houses. Istanbul was respectively, followed by Antalya with 976 house sales, Ankara with 400 house sales, Mersin with 242 house sales and Yalova with 233 house sales.

 

Real estate sales to foreigners increased by 47.6% in the January-August period of 2021 compared to the same period of 2020 and became 30 thousand 849 house sales.

 

The Most Housing Sales were made to Iran Citizens

 

In August 2021, Iranian citizens bought 911 properties from Turkey. Citizens of Iran were followed by Iraq with 900 houses, Russian Federation with 451 houses, Afghanistan with 313 houses and Kuwait with 264 houses.
