Turkish Statistical Institute announced June 2021 housing sales data. Real estate sales across Turkey have decreased by 29.1% in June 2021 compared to the same month of the last year and became 134 thousand 731.
According to TUIK (Turkish Statistical Institute) data, house sales across Turkey increased by 75 thousand 565 in June 2021 compared to the previous month and became 134 thousand 731.
In housing sales, the megacity Istanbul became the city with the highest share of 19.2% and 25,833 house sales. According to the official sales numbers announced, the megacity Istanbul was followed by the capital Ankara with 13 thousand 401 house sales and 9.9% share, and Izmir with 7 thousand 522 sales and 5.6% share.
The cities with the lowest number of real estate sales were, respectively, announced as Hakkari with 12 house sales, Ardahan with 32 houses and Bayburt with 64 houses.
Despite the monthly increase the number of houses sold for the first time in Turkey declined by 31.6% in June compared to the same month of the last year and became 40 thousand 92 units.
The share of the first sale in total house sales was 29.8%. In the first sales, the megacity Istanbul had the highest share with 6,772 house sales and 16.9%, while the great city Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 2 thousand 647 house sales and İzmir with 2 thousand 128 house sales.
Turkey real estate sales to foreigners raised by 185.3% compared to the same month of the last year and became 4 thousand 748. In the housing sales to foreigners, the megacity Istanbul took first place in June with sales of 2 thousand 257 houses. The great city of Istanbul was followed by Antalya with 906 house sales, Ankara with 300 house sales, Mersin with 221 house sales and Bursa with 148 house sales.
In the January-June period, property sales to foreigners raised by 43.7% compared to the same period of the last year and became 20 thousand 488.
According to the nationality of the country, most housing sales were made to Iraqi citizens.
In June, Iraqi citizens purchased a total of 773 houses from Turkey. Iraqi citizens were followed by Iran with 683 houses, Russian Federation with 300 houses, and Afghanistan with 250 houses and Germany with 192 houses.
