Turkish Statistical Institute announced October 2021 housing sales data. Real estate sales across Turkey have increased by 14.9% in October 2021 compared to the same month of the last year and became 137 thousand 401.
According to TUIK (Turkish Statistical Institute) data, house sales across Turkey increased by 14.9% in October 2021 compared to the previous month and became 134 thousand 731.
In housing sales, the megacity Istanbul became the city with the highest share of 19.0% and 26,041 house sales. According to the official sales numbers announced, the megacity Istanbul was followed by the capital Ankara with 13 thousand 466 house sales and 9.8% share, and Izmir with 8 thousand 218 sales and 6.0% share.
The cities with the lowest number of real estate sales were, respectively, announced as Hakkari with 22 house sales, Ardahan with 45 houses and Bayburt with 84 houses.
The number of properties sold for the first time in Turkey raised by 13.4 percent in October compared to the same month of 2020 and became 41 thousand 914 houses. The share of the new houses sale in total real estate sales was 30.5 percent. In the January-October period, new house sales decreased by 16.9 percent compared to the same period of 2020 and amounted to 329 thousand 70.
Resale house sales in Turkey increased by 18.6 percent in October compared to the same month 2020 and became 95 thousand 482 housing units. The share of resale house sales in total house sales was 69.5 percent. Resale house sales in Turkey decreased by 14.4 percent in the January-October period compared to the same period of the2020 and amounted to 757 thousand 469 houses.
Turkey real estate sales to foreigners raised by 12.1% compared to the same month of the last year and became 5 thousand 893. The share of house sales to foreigners in total house sales was 4.3%. In the housing sales to foreigners, the megacity Istanbul took first place in October with sales of 2 thousand 464 houses. The great city of Istanbul was followed by Antalya with 1 thousand 385 house sales and Ankara with 359 house sales.
In the January-October period, property sales to foreigners raised by 38.0% compared to the same period of the last year and became 43 thousand 372.
According to the nationality of the country, most housing sales were made to Iran citizens.
In October, Iran citizens purchased a total of 1 thousand 265 houses from Turkey. Iran citizens were followed by Iraq with 926 houses and Russian Federation with 543 houses.
