The Turkish residence permit applications made for the first time by showing the addresses of Avcilar, Bahcelievler, Bagcilar, Basaksehir, Esenler, Esenyurt, Fatih, Kucukcekmece, Sultangazi and Zeytinburnu districts in Istanbul will be rejected as of 20.10.2022. (All neighborhoods in mentioned districts are closed for residence permit applications).
Except for the residence permit transition applications or extension applications to be made within the legal period to change the type of an active residence permit,
Foreigners who have a preliminary contract for real estate sale before the restriction date and acquire title deed after the restriction date, and foreigners who own their Title deed in the mentioned district before the restriction date and apply for a residence permit for the first time after the restriction date (for real estate purposes),
Applications of foreigners within the scope of subparagraph 31/1 (j) of Law No. 6458 (for investment purposes) and their family members defined in the said Law,
Residence permit applications of students registered at universities, institutes and schools located in the counted districts,
Applications of foreigners who receive in-patient treatment and give their hospital address as their residence address,
All the other types of residence permit applications will be rejected at the mentioned district as of 20.10.2022.
1,169 Districts and Neighborhoods will be Closed to Foreigners
As of July 1, 2022, 1,169 neighborhoods are closed to foreigners who want to get Turkish residence permits of which 162 of them are Istanbul neighborhoods.
Considering the density of foreigners in various regions of Turkey, the Turkish Ministry previously closed 781 neighborhoods in certain provinces for Temporary protection registration, international protection registration, residence permit, temporary protection or international protection and the process of changing the province of residence of foreigners, within the scope of residence permit, except for newborn and nuclear family reunification.
As of July 1, 2022, the number of districts and neighborhoods not suitable for a Turkish residence permit has increased to 1,169.
